Rooftop
35-39 bd Romain Rolland, Paris
This office building, renamed “Gravity” and originally built in the 1990s, is the work of architects Arte Charpentier and DLM Architectes. It is a building of more than 10,600 m² located on the outskirts of Paris, whose rehabilitation project responds to a clear desire for modernization and functional transformation. By reorganizing the vertical distribution, we redefined the layout of the building to maximize the efficiency of flows and adapt the workspaces to contemporary expectations. The design freed up vast modular floors, offering flexible and easily reconfigurable open spaces, which can accommodate up to 110 workstations per level on the nine floors.
Integrating nature is a key element of this renovation. At the client's request, we sought to integrate the building into a green setting, where vegetation integrates with the facades, loggias, and terraces. The outdoor spaces, including a 365 m² rooftop on the 10th floor, extend the workspaces, offering users a more pleasant setting and a connection with the outdoor environment. This architectural project aims to redefine the relationship between the workspace and nature, thus improving the quality of life of the occupants.
From an environmental perspective, Gravity's renovation is part of an ambitious sustainable development approach. We implemented material reuse practices during the cleaning phase, while also aiming to obtain high-level environmental certifications, such as BREEAM, WiredScore, and HQE sustainable building. This project reflects our commitment to combining modern architecture and ecological performance, while creating open, modular, and environmentally friendly workspaces.
